Steer it before you restart it.
Fix a drifting conversation without writing the whole brief again.
A short reply can keep good work moving. A longer reset can rescue work that has drifted. The useful skill is knowing when to switch.

Put it to work

Name what survived.
Start with the part worth keeping: the structure, the argument, the layout, or the working code. That gives the next revision a stable starting point.

Describe the gap.
Give it what you observed and what you expected. Paste the screenshot, error, or sentence. For tone, a phrase like “half as formal” can be a useful direction, but it is a calibration cue, not a measurable setting.

Ask for a small response.
On a difficult decision, ask for its recommendation and one reason you might reject it. When the direction is wrong, ask for a short diagnosis before another build. Voice dictation works well for the messy first version of that explanation.

A quick “yes” is still a decision. Read the proposed action before approving it, especially when it affects another person, a live system, or money. A mode label such as “brainstorm” sets the task; it does not change the tool’s actual permissions.
