Most "how to win at AI search" advice is recycled folklore. I'd rather show you my own numbers. These studies start with first-party data (real citations, real traffic, real source code on properties I own) and report what the data did, including the parts that proved me wrong.

What actually gets cited by AI answer engines
I joined roughly 9,500 Bing Copilot citations back to the source code of three sites I own. The finding that survived every check: demand decides. Schema, depth, and server-side rendering were a floor, not the lever. Includes a 751-page controlled regression and a cross-engine probe on Perplexity and ChatGPT Search.
